Mentorship Program
Studies have shown the positive effect mentoring programs have on youth, particularly with underrepresented youth. Our mentoring program aims to empower mentees to unlock the 5 C’s within themselves: Competence, Confidence, Connection, Compassion, and Character.
Our structured and organized approach will help them: Learn the importance of these qualities on the ninja course, understand their greater importance throughout all areas of their life, and apply these lessons off the course to any obstacles they may currently or one day face.

WHAT’S THE PROCESS TO BECOME A MENTOR?
Step 1: Apply to be a mentor
Step 2: Interview
Step 3: Pass background and reference check
Step 4: Attend virtual training
Step 5: Be matched with mentee
Step 6: Attend Virtual Community Day Kickoff
AGE REQUIREMENTS?
Mentees: Ages 6 - 22
Mentors: Ages 18+
Pairs will be matched 5+ years apart
HOW MUCH TIME IS INVOLVED?
1 hour biweekly minimum (virtually or in person)
Time will depend on whether activities are virtual or in person. We know how easy it is to accidentally spend 3 hours at a ninja gym and how long 3 hours feels online.
We know how critical consistency is for mentees, so we ask you to keep your commitment for 12 months.
DO I NEED TO GO THROUGH A BACKGROUND CHECK?
Absolutely, all of our mentors go through a screening process, including a federal background check, interview, and reference check. No, you don’t need to pay for it - we will absolutely cover the costs, but wouldn’t say no if you wanted to help :)
HOW WILL MENTORS BE TRAINED?
All mentors participate in a thorough training that covers topics such as:
Practices of effective mentoring, goal setting, abuse prevention, bystander intervention, cultural competency…
And more!
